Moving In

I have just recently "moved back in", not that I ever wanted to move out, but when our fridge ate it and we moved it to put in a new one we discovered that the floor was rotted out, which led to a whole world of trouble. Stuff one would expect in a 1928 home, of course the most surprising thing is most of the work that has to be done is on the shoddy addition from the 70's while most of the original house remains in decent condition. So, replacing our fridge led to a large renovation project that is still not finished, and our new fridge still not installed. It has included new support beams, new floors, and that section of house now being 1 1/2 inches higher than it used to be. Poor Hubs (who is back living with us after a rather unhappy end to his traveling job that we are contractually obligated not to discuss) has done all of the work himself so far, and after the first week it's all done in the evening after he gets off work. Meanwhile I stayed at my sisters empty apartment living a sort of vacation with the girls and the pool out the front door. Hopefully tonight he muds the drywall he installed and we can move the new fridge in. Then Tearing out a wall is next along with the entire back portion of the roof. After that is done, or maybe before, our laundry machines can be hooked up once again. While I wait for all this construction to end I do need to make the rest of the house a bit more livable and safe for the girls. It has been an active construction zone for awhile and when we left suddenly, grabbing clothes just for the night, there was a large amount of fabric I had just received that I had not had a chance to go through. Which means bins and bags in the living room along with our new fridge in many, many pieces. I suspect it will take the rest of the week to get it back to decent. Then who knows how long the construction will take in the back room which has been blocked off from the kids. Hopefully it's done before our vacation to Colonial Williamsburg.
